At age 9 she began training to become a professional dancer, but by age 15 she replaced dance with acting. Mia was born in 1989 in Canberra, Australia. She stated October 14 is not her real birthday, though the birth date is appearing all over the internet. She was born and raised in the country’s capital Canberra. She is the daughter of photographers Marzena Wasikowska and John Reid. Her mother is Polish and her father is an Australian of British ancestry. She is the middle child of three children. She has an older sister, Jess, and a younger brother, Kai. She landed her first acting role in 2004, with a two-episode stint on the Australian soap All Saints.
